Tap Load CSV in the bar at the top. Supports exports from Monzo, Starling, Barclays, Halifax, NatWest, Nationwide and HSBC — download a statement CSV from your bank’s app or web portal, then load it here. All data stays on your device; nothing is uploaded.
Each tab is an independent budget. Use + to duplicate the current one. Rename, set a baseline, or delete via Manage. The Summary button compares all scenarios against the baseline.
Open Income and swipe (or tap the dots) to switch between two people. Enter gross salary, take-home pay, and pension (fixed £ or % of gross — toggle the label). The 50/30/20 bar at the bottom updates live.
Add, rename, or delete lines freely. Tap the /mo button to cycle frequency (monthly → annual → weekly). Toggle Essential to move a line between Needs and Wants. Swipe left on the Outgoings card to switch to Actuals view, which shows CSV spend vs budget with a RAG indicator. Tap i on any line to see a monthly bar chart, trend, per-payee breakdown, and full transaction list. Transactions are grouped by payee — tap a payee to expand, then reassign individual transactions or the whole payee to a different budget line.
Add savings lines as you would outgoings. Swipe left on the Savings card to see Pot summary — actual Monzo pot transfers vs your budgeted savings lines. Tap i on a pot row for a monthly chart and transaction list.
Set a monthly personal allowance per person. These appear as a separate slice in the 50/30/20 bar.
Open Categorise from the toolbar. Assign each payee to a budget line using the dropdown — this drives the actuals comparison. Use Apply suggestions to auto-fill obvious matches. The Suggested new budget lines section highlights spending categories not yet in your budget. Use Apply new lines to checkboxes to add them to specific scenarios. The hide categorised button (bottom-left) filters to unassigned payees. Per-transaction overrides are available by tapping a payee row to expand it.
After loading a CSV, a ▶ Analyse button appears. This opens a full-screen analysis showing: monthly income vs outgoings chart, spend by category, pot activity (in/out/net per pot), recurring payment detection with price-change alerts, and top payees with trend arrows. Tap any bar in the charts to see the value.
Use Backup to download a JSON file. If a CSV is loaded you’ll be asked whether to include the transaction data (recommended). Use Restore to reload a backup — the CSV is re-parsed automatically if included. Use Settings → Copy to send your budget to the clipboard for sharing.
Tap ↯ Install app to add it to your home screen, where it opens full-screen like a native app. On iPhone/iPad the button shows the Safari steps; on Android it installs directly. The button disappears once installed.
This tool is fully offline — it loads no fonts, scripts or anything else from the internet, so there is no online connection that could be exploited. Your data is saved on your device and stays after you close the app. Use Settings → Backup to keep a copy or move it to another device.
Upload a transaction statement exported from your banking app. Everything is processed on your device — nothing is uploaded anywhere.
File types
Comma-separated (.csv) and tab-separated (.tsv) files. Most banks call this “Export as CSV”.
Banks recognised automatically
Monzo, Starling, Barclays, Halifax, NatWest, Nationwide and HSBC. Other banks usually work too — the importer looks for date, amount and description columns and adapts.
